Produces high quality and innovative insoles, footcare products and advanced sports medicine.

In 1967, Dr. Wayman Spence, a visionary and footcare specialist, founded Spenco® Medical Corporation (SMC) with the mission of developing innovative products for better health. Among the many products that Dr. Spence invented was the first sports medicine insole sold to Nike, a then-obscure shoe manufacturer.

The core focus of SMC® is to develop and market performance insoles designed with a specific end use or foot problem in mind. Its core business revolves around producing high quality and innovative insoles and footcare products, Spenco® also provides the most advanced sports medicine and first aid products.

The insoles are put through rigorous testing within high-tech testing facilities and the performances are measured for cushioning, energy return, compression and overall analysis of total insole comfort. Overall insole comfort is measured and evaluated through a specific formula that was developed by Spenco® in conjunction with Sport Biomechanics, Inc. called the Insole Comfort Index (ICI).
